Driverless AI prior releases

Driverless AI 2.5 is the current release version, and is the only branch that accepts new features. You can find the latest released version of Driverless AI on the download page.

Critical security advisory

Driverless AI 2.4.x and later address a critical security vulnerability. Upgrade 2.3.x and older to 2.5.1. Those versions get bug fixes by exception only.

Note

All current Driverless AI 2.x versions use Python 3.11, which reaches end of life in October 2027. Future 2.x releases are planned to upgrade to Python 3.13 or higher to extend support beyond 2027.

Driverless AI releases go through different phases of the support lifecycle.

  • Active maintenance

    Receives bug fixes, security updates, and feature releases. Only the current release version receives this level of support.

  • Bug fixes only

    Receives bug fixes only. Security vulnerability patches are not provided for this version.

  • End of life

    Support has ended. No further updates or security patches will be provided.

Important: Sub-releases (for example, 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) inherit the end-of-life date from their main release version (2.2.x), regardless of their individual release dates. Security vulnerability patches are only provided for the current release version. Older supported versions receive bug fixes only. After end of life, H2O.ai provides no further updates of any kind.

Support policy summary

  • Active maintenance (current release)Receives bug fixes, security updates, and feature releases. Only the current release version (currently 2.5.x) receives this level of support.
  • Critical security updateDriverless AI 2.4.x and later address a critical security vulnerability. Upgrade 2.3.x and older to 2.5.1. Those versions get bug fixes by exception only.
  • Bug fixes onlyReceives bug fixes only by exception. Security vulnerability patches are not provided due to third-party library constraints that prevent backporting security updates to older versions.
  • Python versionAll existing DAI 2.x versions currently use Python 3.11, which reaches end-of-life in October 2027. This is the maximum limit for vulnerability patching. Any version whose +2 year EOL would exceed Oct 2027 is capped at the Python 3.11 EOL date.
  • End of life policySub-releases follow the EOL date of their main release. For example, all 2.4.x and 2.3.x versions reach EOL in Oct 2027, 2.2.x in Jul 2027, 2.1.x in May 2027, and 2.0.x in Mar 2027.
  • Security patchesSecurity vulnerability patches are provided only for the active maintenance version (currently 2.5.x). No vulnerability patches are provided for older supported versions or after EOL, because upstream library support and third-party library constraints prevent backporting.
  • Customer supportFor EOL versions, support is granted only by exception and comes with significant limitations due to third-party library constraints.
  • Migration recommendation: Customers using unsupported versions should migrate to supported versions to maintain access to security patches and full support services.
