Key terms

AI Unit Consumption uses several terms across its documentation, and each, in turn, is explained in the below sections.

AI Unit

An AI Unit is an H2O AI Cloud (HAIC) unit of measurement that measures the consumption of CPUs, GBs (gigabytes of RAM), and GPUs across its platform for a particular organization.

GPU

In layman's terms, a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) refers to an electronic circuit that changes memory to create images for rapid display. To learn more, see Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

CPU

In layman's terms, a Central Processing Unit (CPU) refers to an electronic circuit that executes instructions initiated by computer languages (e.g., Python) ranging from basic arithmetic to more complex functions. To learn more, see What is a CPU?.

GBs of RAM

A Random Access Memory (RAM) is divided into several sticks. Each stick of a RAM can hold a certain amount of data indicated by GBs which stands for gigabytes. With that in mind, GBs of RAM refers to the total number of GBs a RAM supports. A RAM refers to a computer memory that your computer can use to store working data and machine code to be accessed quickly. To learn more, see What are Gigabytes of RAM?.
